Service with Respect and Compassion goes a Long Way.
Working with clients in their home on a day to day basis can be a great joy, if you love the work. I find it is vital to have good boundaries and to give them their needed space and independence, balanced with compassionate oversight and care. I watch for the little successes and accentuate the positive and I find most older adults really appreciate this. Each one has a history, a personal journey that makes them unique and in my experience, sometimes even a little eccentric. I love that about them!
I truly value the generation of my parents and grandparents. Their time was one of the best to be alive and to have worked and raised a family. Their generation saw civilizations being built from the ground up, not only in the US but around the world. Their generation gave us such great talent, inventions, entertainers, writers, artists, businesses - whole industries were created.
I enjoy discovering little eccentricities about my clients as I give them excellent care, respect and a sense of safety. Their past experiences led them to who they are today. I sometimes feel like a keeper of the past, a preserver of the creations, stories, sufferings and sacrifices they made, to get to the here and now. I want to offer them a sense of pride for their entire life span - past to the present. My goal is to help them be their best now, allowing them to tell their stories well and in their most vulnerable state, to have the freedom to feel, give and receive love with their family and friends.
I place the utmost importance on their well-being and I am convinced a person can receive great care, safety and security in their home, thought their senior years.
